This reform school melodrama features appearances by Bette Davis and Pat O'Brien. When Jimmy refuses to reveal the identity of the man who hired him to answer phones at a bootlegging operation, he is sent off to reform school. While serving his three years at the reform school, he befriends another youth named Shorty, who has a heart ailment. The harsh conditions at the reformatory and the dire condition of his friend force Jimmy to escape the school to seek help.
